Maharashtra's growth potential highlighted : CM Eknath Shinde outlines Thane's development vision at vikas parishad 2024

During the Thane Vikas Parishad-2024, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde underscored Maharashtra's potential as a national powerhouse. He highlighted key projects such as Atal Setu and Samruddhi highway while discussing initiatives in real estate, industry, and environmental protection. Shinde aims to boost Thane's economy significantly by 2030.

Maharashtra has the strength to become the powerhouse of the nation. It is the Growth Engine of our country and Thane is a 'Model' in development,” said Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde here today.

He was speaking at the Thane Vikas Parishad -2024 under the Mumbai Mahanagar Pradesh organised at the Dr Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruh.

The state excise minister and the guardian minister of Thane District, Shambhuraj Desai, Vice-president of the planning board, Rajesh Kshirsagar, Member of Parliament, Naresh Mahske, legislator Pratap Sarnaik, former legislator Ravindra Phathak, chief executive officer of Mitra, Praveen Singh Pardeshi, principal secretary of environment and climate change department.

Praveen Darade, chief executive officer of Mhada, Sanjeev Jaiswal, chief executive officer of the Mumbai slum rehabilitation authority, Dr Mahendra Kalyankar, district magistrate Ashok Shingare, commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation.

Sourabh Rao, joint chief executive officer of Mitra, Sushil Khodvekar and Aman Mittal, member secretary of Maharashtra pollution control board, Avinash Dhakne, chief executive officer of Slum rehabilitation authority, Paraag Soman, director of tourism department, B N Patil, commissioner of Navi Mumbai municipal corporation, Dr Kailash Shinde, Industrial Development commissioner, Dipendra Singh Kushvaha, additional development commissioner, Pradeep Chandran, Vikram Kumar of MMRD, Commissioner of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, Indurani Jakhad, joint managing director of CIDCO, Shantanu Goyal, chief executive officer of Thane Zilla Parishad.

Rohan Ghuge, joint chief executive officer of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, Anil Bhandari, commissioner of Mira-Bhayandar municipal corporation, Sanjay Katkar, commissioner of Bhiwandi-Nizampur municipal corporation, Ajay Vaidya, commissioner of Vasai-Virar municipal corporation, Anil Pawar, additional district magistrate, Manisha Jaybhay-Dhule, District Planning officer, Vaibhav Kulkarni, joint director of industries, Viju Shirsat and other dignitaries also graced the occasion.

Speaking further, Chief Minister Shri Shinde said that if we strategically work on five sectors of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, our economy can reach 1.5 trillion dollars and the Mumbai Metropolitan region has the potential to do so. We can bring to reality industries for all, employment and houses for all, and a green Thane. He also said that many things first start in Thane and then they start at other places, and this is evident in history. He reiterated that Maharashtra has the strength to become the powerhouse of the nation.

The Chief Minister further said that after agriculture, the real estate sector provides a large number of employment opportunities. He said that Maharashtra is now number one in GDP, foreign investment, network of infrastructure, and various other sectors. He also mentioned that out of the total investment of the nation, 52 percent is in Maharashtra alone.

He further stated that due to Atal Setu, we can reach from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai in just 20 minutes. He said that when this project was in the pipeline, there were criticisms that the Flamingo Birds would become extinct, but the organisations working on environment-related issues have given the report that the number of Flamingos has doubled, adding that Atal Setu had been a game- changer project.

He also said that due to the Samruddhi highway, we can reach Nagpur within just eight hours and soon it will be possible for us to travel from Thane to Borivali within 20 minutes. He mentioned that the extension of the Eastern Freeway is ongoing. The work on the Virar-Ali Bagh corridor is also gaining momentum. He said that while constructing this project, modern technology was implemented to a larger extent.

He also said that the construction of Navi Mumbai Airport will soon be completed and the third Airport is going to be constructed at Palghar. Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde said that as we have all the facilities required for the industries, a maximum number of industries are attracted to our state.

Stating that he had signed MoUs worth 1 lakh 37 thousand crores at Davos, he said that the work of most of the industries had already started and MoUs worth 3 lakh 50 thousand crores had been signed. Shri Shinde said that recently the project for manufacturing electronic semiconductor chips was started and soon the agreement worth 84 thousand crore rupees is going to be signed for the electronic semiconductor chip manufacturing project.

The Chief Minister said that industries from various sectors are starting in Maharashtra and that he had given strict instructions to all the officers that no complaint from the industrial sector should be received, adding that if any complaint reaches him, he resolves it with immediate effect. He exuded confidence that if more industries come to the state, Maharashtra will see more progress.

The Chief Minister said that Maharashtra is the first state in the entire nation which started the Mukhyamantri Yuva Prashikshan Yojana to impart training to the youth and give them a stipend during their apprenticeship period.

Stating that a few nations depend on the tourism business, he said that our state has a coastline of 720 km. He said that we have classified the development and hence the development of the state is going to be accelerated. He said that this govt is giving a boost to the development process all the time.

Chief Minister Shri Shinde said that the survey for dangerous and dilapidated buildings in Thane will be taken up and all those staying in such buildings will be given their ownership houses through the medium of cluster development, adding that CIDCO and Thane Municipal Corporation are engaged in this work. He said that in the first phase, 17 thousand houses will be constructed and the work is already going on at a greater pace.

Speaking on environmental protection, Chief Minister Shri Shinde said that the Thane Municipal Corporation had planted 1 lakh 25 thousand trees. He said that the plantation of bamboo on 21 lakh hectares of land is in process.

Stating that bamboo provides maximum oxygen, he said that bamboo sowing is very much beneficial from an environmental point of view. He said that we all will have to strive for maintaining a balance in the environment and it is the need of the hour.

Shri Eknath Shinde said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had dreamt about making the nation an economic superpower and if this dream is to be brought to reality, it is mandatory for all of us to work according to the instructions given by the Niti Aayog in its report.

He said that the Mitra institute has taken the initiative in that direction. He also said that Thane district has a 48 billion dollar economy and we have set the goal to make it 150 billion dollars by the year 2030. He also said that the GDP of Thane is 7.5 percent and efforts are on to elevate it to 20%. He said that various utility projects are implemented in Thane district and out of it, the pothole-free roads, the central park, blue sea, STP plant, pollution-free water and other ventures are going on.

He said that Maharashtra is the first state in the whole nation to implement the development and welfare schemes and work day and night restlessly, for the progress of the state with the utility of modern technology.

Mansi Sontakke compared the programme whereas the additional commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation, Dr Prashant Rode, proposed the vote of thanks. Industrialists from various sectors, students, officers and people were present in large numbers during the programme.
